Visit to Grupo Paloma in Murcia organized by the Ethical Trade Forums.
On January 22, a visit was held to Grupo Paloma’s facilities in Águilas, organized in collaboration with the Ethical Trade Forums. This event marked the second such session promoted by the Sustainability Working Group.
A total of 16 people from various companies in the sector participated, including: Prima Fruit, AMT Fresh, DPS, Catman North, Ecoinver, San Lucar Group, El Ciruelo, Bonnysa, Kettle Produce, Grupo Gs, AG Olives, and Fruca Marketing, represented by Silvia Albaladejo. The attendees were accompanied by a representative from the Ethical Trade Forums.
The tour was led by Ana Hernández (Director of R&D) and Elena Blaya (Environmental Manager), who presented Grupo Paloma’s sustainability initiatives, including its action plans for biodiversity conservation and the investments made to promote a circular economy.
The day began with a tour of the company’s facilities in Águilas, home to an 80-hectare farm with high-tech greenhouses dedicated to tomato cultivation. During the visit, the production processes and the main measures implemented to optimize resources were explained in detail:
– Optimization of water use.
– Biodiversity conservation and biological control.
– Reduction of the carbon and water footprints of crops.
The participants showed great interest in the topics discussed, asking questions and expressing their gratitude to Grupo Paloma for sharing its knowledge and best practices in sustainability.
